Continuing our  journey to fish the waters of  Harriman State Park, dogNme visited Lake Sebago, which is the Park’s  largest lake, stretching over 300 acres.  Sebago is the Algonquian name for “big water”.

Lake Sebago offers opportunities to catch largemouth and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, pickerel, sunfish and catfish.  It also is one of the parks with easy access points for boating and a short distance walk to fish from the parking lot.  It also has hiking trails and cabin camping possibilities.

On this morning we decided to hike in a bit from the parking lot near the boat ramp. We met a few fishermen from Brooklyn, Staten Island and Northern New Jersey who were also enjoying a day fishing.  After sharing some quality “fishing social time” ( this is where we share insights into past, current and future fishing strategies 🤥), we continued our walk around the lake.

As faith would have it, we saw “ the perfect spot” as advertised in fishing magazines and cable and YouTube viewings.  It was a small channel off the main body of water. On the first cast, there was an explosion on top of the water, as a waiting largemouth bass provided that “adrenaline rush” that impacts both the experienced and novice anglers. 😎

After a brief fight, we landed the fish, and after a quick once over, was returned to the lake to provide the next angler with a similar treat.
