Deja Vu – My last visit to Silver Mine Lake was over 10 years ago. It was an early morning on the 4th of July and my sons and I were taking a neighbor and his two sons fishing. I chose Harriman State Park because I was familiar with several of the lakes there. At that time I was not aware of how many fishing opportunities were available in the Park. More on this later.
On that day my first born walked around the lake and found a nice place to cast. Within a few minutes the 4 of us watched as he landed a nice 3 pound bass. It turned out to be the largest catch of the day.
Fast forward to now. Ignoring the rain, I walked around the lake and recognized the location that my son would occasionally reference as the place where he caught the largest fish that day. I was casting near the rocks looking for some crappies. On my retrieve the line it went tight and I felt a huge tug. About 3 minutes later I landed the great granddaughter of my son’s catch. She might have been a little heavier and brought a big smile to my face.
At that moment I felt the urge to fish as many of the Harriman State Lakes as I could. So the journey begins. Come along for the ride.
