The good thing about being in the south is that Spring normally comes early, which means more time to fish.  John is an avid fisherman who loves to search out small ponds in search of largemouth bass.  There are many fishermen who favor fishing small ponds as they do sometimes hold huge lunkers, as the fishing pressure is sometimes less than on other well known lakes. The more secluded and hard to get to, normally the better the fishing.

Once the weather gets hot, most fishermen focus on fishing  early in the morning or in the evening in summers when it is cooler. There are some fishermen who are able to find some of these hogs even in the heat of the day.

John like many fishermen, like to use rubber worms in his pursuit of bass. He was using a Texas Rig with a purple colored worm.  Every fishermen has their favorites and sometimes the weather dictates which color to use. That said, you can go fishing one day and have luck with a particular color, come back the next day, same weather conditions and that color may send you hope empty handed.  That is why they call it fishing.

Bass fishermen like using both the Texas Rig and the close kin, the Carolina Rig.  The bass above  fell prey to a Texas Rig.  The sketch below is just for education, so go easy on me.
