I had always wanted to fish the Housatonic River, also referred to as the “Housy”. So one day Dog n Me took a trip to fish this river. The Housatonic River flows approximately 150 miles through western Massachusetts and Connecticut.
So driving up Route 7, I made a stop at Housatonic River Outfitters in Kent, CT. They were very friendly and provided me with several options to fish. I was informed that there was a section of the Appalachian Trail that ran along the river. I was intrigued and headed in that direction.
It was a hot day and after finding a place to pull off the dirt road, my four footed companion headed into the river for a quick swim. This was after disturbing a sleepy approximately 10 foot long reptile sunning in some leaves that put us both on alert.
After wading into the water I hooked into a small fish. The heat was intense and the fish were not cooperating, so we decided to return on another day.
Before returning home we continued along Route 7 and found several places that were recommended.
