Kensico Reservoir Dam, located in Westchester County, New York; is part of the NYC Water Shed.  It encompasses approximately 3.5 miles, with an average depth just under 50 feet. The interesting history behind the dam is that beneath its waters lies the former town of Kensico. The town of approximately 200 residents had stores, hotels and even a railroad station.

Today the reservoir is home to many specifies of fish, such as large and small mouth bass, brown and lake trout to name a few.  With Bass Season not opening until June in New York, many fishermen target lake trout.  Sawbellies are a favorite of the trout in Kensico.

The great thing about going fishing is bonding with old friends and meeting new ones and exchanging some fishing tips and “tales” as we fishermen sometimes are prone to do.
